Adobe Aligns Around Content Authoring and Digital Marketing Opportunitie

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Aug. 18, 2011 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced that it will further align the company around the explosive growth categories of Content Authoring and Digital Marketing.

Adobe has deep roots in the media and publishing segments, which are undergoing meteoric changes as publishers and media customers rush to digitize their print and video assets and experiment with a variety of business models to drive new revenue streams. Adobe content authoring solutions are at the heart of this transformation.

At the same time, marketers are developing dynamic new web experiences and applications to drive customer engagement and are increasingly moving their advertising dollars online, with digital advertising estimated to grow to $72 billion in 2011.*  Measuring and managing the true impact of these marketing dollars is a key priority for today’s marketers.  Adobe’s customer experience management and digital marketing solutions are leaders in this space.

In order to further increase focus on these high-growth opportunities, the company today announced a number of organizational changes.

Adobe senior vice president David Wadhwani will continue to lead Adobe’s content authoring efforts. Wadhwani currently oversees Adobe’s Creative Solutions and Platform businesses and will take on responsibility for Adobe’s Acrobat® business.  Adobe’s Creative Suite® products are the leading content authoring solution for designers and developers at publishers, agencies and media companies as well as marketing organizations at small and large businesses.  Adobe Acrobat is the leading solution for creating and sharing documents. Increasingly, Adobe will deliver more comprehensive solutions like the recently released Digital Publishing Solution, which allows publishers to create (with Adobe CS5.5), distribute (through all major app stores) and measure (with Omniture® analytics) publications for major platforms using flexible commerce models.

The company’s digital marketing and enterprise solution efforts will be led by Adobe senior vice president Brad Rencher, who currently oversees Adobe’s Omniture business.  Adobe’s Digital Marketing Suite is the leading solution for digital marketing measurement and optimization.  In addition to his management of the Omniture business, Rencher will now take on responsibility for Adobe’s customer experience management solutions, which include the content management software business acquired from Day Software in March 2011.  Adobe is already benefitting from synergies between the Digital Marketing Suite and its content management software and will integrate these technologies into cloud-based solutions targeted at marketing executives.

Adobe also announced that senior vice president Rob Tarkoff has decided to leave Adobe for another opportunity.
